Spaces is a terrific Mac feature that I don’t think people realise how powerful it is until they try it. I know I ridiculed it, not seeing the point of it. But now I use it all the time and I am not sure how I lived prior to using them. Here is a quick video on setting up and using Spaces.

19|Sep|2009Hi,
Been using Spaces for a long time. Excellent, time-saving, feature.
Just wanted to say thanks for a very accurate and complete video tutorial about them.
One thing I recently came across—and that I think you may be able to help me with—is using Spaces in a dual screen setup.
It would be too long to write in here but maybe you could take a look at this post I made: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=789360
Last but not least, I would suggest that for using spaces you assign the ‘Control’ Key to do the switching as opposed to the ‘Alt’ key as you otherwise loose the very handy functionality of the alt-key combinations. For instance, holding down the ALT key and pressing the left arrow when you are in a text field will jump the cursor 1 word at a time instead of just 1 character. Holding down the shift+alt+left arrow will then of course select the entire previous word. Very handy for coding!
Thanks again.

19|Sep|2009Hi Jannis,
I actually use Control shortcuts regularly, Control+Left/Write takes you to the beginning/end of line and I use that all the time for coding. Thanks for your comment.

20|Sep|2009Spaces has been around since Tiger, not Leopard.
Without Spaces, IMO, OS X wouldn’t be usable for people who multitask. As it is however, OS X does have Spaces, and it is incredible. It’s the best way to manage windows that I can think of. Windows is unusable to me because it lacks spaces or anything remotely like it.

20|Sep|2009Sorry I’m mistaken, Spaces was indeed with Leopard, I was thinking of Exposé. I kind of mesh the two together in my mind… Sorry for adding any confusion >_<
